Keeping Your Business Open: What the Stay-at-Home Orders Mean for You >

Colorado Governor Jared Polis, local officials, and their staff are working tirelessly to reduce the spread of COVID-19 across the state and have issued “stay-at-home” and reduction of in-person workforce orders. “Essential businesses” are allowed to continue to operate. While we cannot provide you legal advice, based on our reading of the orders and the instructions we have received from the State, most manufacturers fall under the essential business category.

The State has set up an official self-certification form called the Critical Business Self-Certification form for essential businesses. According to the State, this is the only form you need to be officially designated as “critical” and, thus, exempt from the stay-at-home orders in the state and in your county. Complete the form and have it readily available in hard copy should any government or law enforcement official ask for it. If you have also received letters from government clients deeming you as essential, please print those out and have those available as well.
