Proclamation: Northern Colorado Manufacturing Partnership Supports National Apprenticeship Week

WHEREAS the manufacturing sector in Colorado represents a significant portion of the state economy comprising over 7% of the gross domestic product, over 5% of total employment, 93% of total exports, and the highest economic multiplier of any sector in the state, and

WHEREAS workforce development and a shortage of skilled workers is one of the manufacturing sector’s biggest challenges affecting both short term profitability and long term growth, and

WHEREAS implementation of apprenticeships is a proven method for recruiting new employees, building employee loyalty and reducing turnover, accelerating the training cycle, and improving productivity and profitability, and

WHEREAS the Northern Colorado Manufacturing Partnership is the leading manufacturing sector partnership in Colorado and supports manufacturers by communicating best practices;

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that we, the Board of Directors of the Northern Colorado Manufacturing Partnership do hereby support November 11-17 to be United States Department of Labor National Apprenticeship Week and encourage all manufacturers to consider implementation of apprenticeships as a means of relieving critical workforce development challenges and improving the profitability of one of Colorado’s most important economic sectors.
